Bonface Oluoch joined Gor Mahia FC in January 2015.
Despite having a low season at his former club Tusker FC the previous year, Oluoch remained a big name signing for the reigning SportPesa Premier League champions. Himself a former two time champion with the brewers, the pressure and demands that always come with signing for Gor Mahia was not going to cause him any problems in settling in at the K'Ogalo camp.
Oluoch had lost his number one shot stopper role at Tusker FC and spent nearly a whole season (2014) on the bench with the possibility of walking him through the exit door in the next transfer window could not be ruled out. Then Gor Mahia came calling when the off-season window opened and the custodian crossed over.
The defending champions had preciously been linked with interest in the Kenyan international but could not lure him home. But their second calling was irresistible and the signing of Oluoch was a massive boost for the club's effort to beef up the squad in readiness for another attempt to make an impression in the continent's elite club competition the CAF Champions League.
Oluoch packed in him a great deal of experience and was an instrumental part of the team's excellence in their unbeaten league campaign, making a big impression in his first season. His consistency saw him earn the most clean sheets in the season, at one time recording an impressive 10 in a row in the premier league.
His exploits saw him voted the best goalkeeper of the season, winning the Golden Glove at the 2015 KPL Footballer of the Year award (FOYA), for a third time in his career having previously won the individual accolade in 2011 and 2012 seasons. Oluoch also won the golden glove at the CECAFA Kagame cup held in Dar-es-Saalam, Tanzania.
A slow start to the new season 2016 coupled with a rumoured fall out with former coach Frank nutall however saw Oluoch loose his favourite tag with Onyango being called to duty. But the arrival of new tactician Ze Maria has seen Oluoch start in two consecutive matches and he could be back to more action.
