Gor Mahia head coach Mercelo ‘Ze Maria’ Fereira has termed the friendly match against Sudanese premier league champions Al Hilal (Omdurman) as a training session for his side.
The coach was speaking exclusively to the official Gor Mahia website hours before the Wednesday night kick off and pointed out that the team has only had less than one week of training together.
“Tonight’s match will be a training session for us. This is because we’ve had less than a week training together.” said Ze Maria.
He further mentioned that not all players are in Sudan and they have mainly trained for the physical need of the players not the technical part or as per his philosophies of a game.
“Here, we are not having all players and so far, we’ve mainly trained the physical part of the players. From next weekend, I will be with all players at my disposal and I think we will do everything as per my desires,” he added.
Gor Mahia are in Sudan for the second year after sinking the same Al Hilal 1-0 in a friendly match in 2016. The hosts however warned up to this clash with a 3-1 home thrashing of Ghanian league side Waa All Stars last week.
