Sh 4 million Tuyisenge relishing winning titles with K’Ogalo

He may not be a prolific a goal scorer like his fellow Rwandese Meddie Kagere, but new Gor Mahia signing Jacques Tuyisenge is promising prove every dime of his worth. He cost Gor Mahia Sh 4 million, the most expensive in the Kenyan Premier League transfer window and he knows the pressure that will come with such a price tag.

At 24 he is the captain of the Rwanda national side the Amavubi having been capped 29 times since his debut in 2011 and has scored only six times, a low scoring rate but he says he will be up to the task at Gor Mahia. “I am not Meddie Kagere, I know there will definitely be comparisons because of what he did in his one season at the club, but I will do my best to win with this club,” he told

Tuyisenge had sent a come for me plea early in December last year during the East and Central Africa Senior Challenge cup competition in Ethiopia expressing his desire to play for the 15 time Kenyan champions.

“I would love to play for Gor Mahia. I have heard great stories about the club, its history and the passionate following,” he said during an interview.

“If I get a chance to move to Gor Mahia, I will not hesitate,” he added.

And in January, Gor Mahia splashed the cash, met the Sh 4 million price tag Tuyisenge’s club Police had placed and today, the man Gor Mahia fans have nicknamed "Ja Usenge" is a green army.

He said it is sad he did not find his long time friend Kagere at the club, but promises to fit into his shoes. “Kagere is a great player and I would have loved to play alongside him. Its unfortunate he has left, but now that I am here, I will pick from where he left."

Gor Mahia is still home to another Rwandese international Abouba Sibomana who personally persuaded Tuyisenge to come to Kenya.

“Sibo and Kagere are the reasons I fell in love with Gor Mahia. They told me a lot about Gor and I am happy to be here, the reception I got was great and I promise the fans I will not disappoint them.

“I am a born winner and I have come here to win title. Gor Mahia is a great club. Winning the league three times in a row is not easy but they achieved it. I want to help them win it the fourth time.”
