Gor Mahia Youth booked a semi-final slot in the Nairobi Champions Cup with a 2-0 victory over Dandora Youth at the newly refurbished Camp Toyoy Stadium - Jericho on Saturday afternoon.
Second half goals from Joseph Waruinge and Cliff Nyakeya were all the youngsters needed to silence their fellow Nairobi Regional League counterparts.
The first half was squared even after neither side managed to craft a fruitful breakthrough at the breather.
Gor Mahia Youth were however the promising side with more forays into the opposition half and came closest to breaking the tie only for Daniel 'Alves' Otieno to be denied by the upright.
Both back lines were well organised with more first half action restricted in the midfield.
Gor Mahia Youth returned with more vigour and intent in the second half. They were knocking on the opposition door, the tie breaker was clearly in the working and it was only a matter of time before it counted.
Dandora Youth were tactically more defensive and looked catch the youngsters on the break but the flanks routea were well marshalled by Kevin Otieno and Godfrey Ndiawa.
The bar was rattled twice, first from a Alves header and second from defender Ondis' connection from a corner cross.
Dandora Youth were under siege and were punished after a poor goamouth clearance led to a melee and Waruinge poked in the opener to sent the expectant crowd into a frenzy.
In an attempt to salvage a way back into the game, Dandora Youth exposed their back line and Cliff Nyakeya was in target to double the lead, beating the goalkeeper with a fine shot from just inside the box.
Dandora Youth was done and dusted and were nearly shattered but Derrick failed to find the back of the net after running through on goal.
The hunt for the million shilling prize continues as the team awaits the semi-final fixtures and date.
