Gor KCB match ends in a barren draw

Defending champion Gor Mahia were forced to a barren draw by hard fighting KCB in a match played at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday.

Both sides showed even ball possesion but shy to penetrate each other’s defense. In the second minute of the game, Timothy Otieno could have converted home through Geofrey Walusimbi’s corner but the header went wide the cross bar.

The First half saw the visitors Gor Mahia launch attack after attack to the bankers’ side with David Owino trying to poke holes in KCB’s tight defense as Musa Mohamed overlapped from the right in support.

KCB came close in the 11th minute when John Odhiambo’s cross was headed off K’Ogalo’s post.

Gor custodian Jerim Onyango was up on his game as he continued to keep his sheet clean. In the 12th minute, Daniel Onyango tested KCB goalkeeper Zachariah Onyango with a long range effort but it did not bother the


Then in 15th minute, Gor Mahia earned a free-kick outside KCB danger zone after Zachariah Onyango had handled outside his box. Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito, who scored the winning goal against Sony Sugar in the last match, could not find the mark this time round from the same dead ball.

KCB custodian had his hands punch off the 48 yard thunderbolt for a corner. The Second half saw Simon Mburu come in for George Odhiambo, a change which saw a more ball distribution from the midfield courtesy of maestro Collins ‘Gatuso’ Okoth and Geofrey ‘Baba’ Kizito.

It was a bad day in office for lethal forward dann sserunkuma who squandered opportunities all in a one on one encounter with keeper Zachary onyango,The former Gor custodian denied sserenkuma twice in the second face of the game.

Second half saw Timothy Otieno make some good attempts to shoot on target, but his shots could bear no fruit as he was rested for creative forward Patrick oboya who had a hard time to get past KCB towering defender mark odhiambo.

Gor mahia remain top spot on 42 points with a game in hand.
