The die is cast; quest for continental glory starts again as K'Ogalo aim to break elite barrier with home second leg ties..

Continental giants Gor Mahia have drawn Burundi champions Aigle Noir CS in the preliminary round of CAF Champions League slated to kick off in the second weekend of August 2019.

K’Ogalo, whose stature in the continent keeps rising season after another owing to improved performances, have earned the privilege of starting away in the two-legged fixture and will duly grace Bujumbura, Burundi’s capital on the weekend of August 9th to 11th.

The 1987 Mandela Cup champions will then host Aigle Noir CS in Nairobi a fortnight later for the second leg whence the aggregate winner will be known.

Should Gor Mahia successfully navigate past the Burundian outfit the Kenyan champions will set a date with either Tunisian club USM Alger or SONIDEP of Niger in the all-important group stage clincher.

And in cognizance of K’Ogalo’s standing in CAF rankings the Kenyan club will start this two-legged round away on the second weekend of September before hosting either USM Alger or SONIDEP in Nairobi after two weeks.

After two near misses to the CAF Champions League Group stage, K’Ogalo have set a lofty target of breaching the elite barrier this season. The team has already clocked four weeks of training including participating in the regional CECAFA Club Championships where they bowed out at the quarterfinal stage.

Aigle Noir CS of Burundi will be well versed with Gor Mahia’s style of play, culture and might with the Kenyan club having been among the three dominant teams in the region in recent calendar.
