Gor Mahia knocked out of CAF Confederation Cup

 

KPL defending champions  Gor Mahia are out of CAF Confederation Cup after they lost 5:1 against RS Berkane in the quarter final return match in Berkane, Morocco.

The team arrived in Berkane Municipal Stadium just two hours before the kick-off after experiencing logistical nightmares.

The first goal for the host team came in the 21st minute after Gor captain Harun Shakava poorly cleared a cross that was swung from the right wing to land on the marauding Fo-Dohlaba who easily beat Gor custodian Fredrick Odhiambo.

Gor Mahia equalized three minutes later courtesy of Lawrence Juma who utilized Philemon Otieno’s cross from the right flank to beat the Berkane defense and plant the ball in the net.

Berkane’s second goal came in the 30th minute through a header from Aziz, the first half ended with the hosts leading 3:1

In the second half, Gor Mahia conceded two more goals to give Berkane a convincing 5:1 win at full time and an aggregate 7:1 win.

RS Berkane progresses to the Semifinal stage of the CAF confederation cup as Gor Mahia now focuses on retaining the KPL title.
