Gor Mahia claimed a 2-1 win over a resilient Ulinzi Stars in round 26 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) tie played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Monday 29 April 2019.
Erisa Ssekisambu socred in the 30th second of the game after a pinpoint cross from Francis Mustafa.
K’ogalo maintained the lead until the 76th minute when Ulinzi scored an equaliser from a corner kick.
The corner kick found the Gor custodian flat-footed allowing Ulinzi striker Enosh Ochieng to easily tap the ball in the right corner of the net.
Buoyed by the equaliser Ulinzi sent more troops forward to pile pressure to grab a winner and this exposed their back line.
With the game appearing to be heading for a draw, a swift counter attack by Gor saw substitute Samuel Onyango net the winner with four minutes left on the clock.
Gor Mahia now have a 9 point lead in the KPL log with one game at hand. The next assignment will be against KCB on the 2nd of May at a venue to be announced later.
