Gor Mahia to face CUSCO FC from Uasin Gishu County

Eight-time FKF Cup (now Betway Cup) champions Gor Mahia will face the nationwide sire Cambridge Universal College (CUSCO) FC in the Betway CUP round of 32 matches to be played at the Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi on Thursday.

The Betway Cup overall champions will represent the country in the continental CAF Confederation Cup league slated after completion of domestic leagues.

K’Ogalo had earlier faced Mombasa side Congo Boys in the round of 64 and won with 3-0 goal margin. (read the Congo Boys results here).

K’Ogalo head coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto will likely have a similar line-up that faced the Coastal side Congo Boys and rests some of the key players to prepare for the top tier League fixtures (See Congo Boys vs Gor Mahia line-up).

The North Rift side is coming to the game with some hope, having been crowned North Rift branch champion 2018-2019 and playing division 2 zone B league.

K’Ogalo will not want surprises as witnessed seven years back (19 Jul 2014) when another Rift Valley GFC 105 knocked them out of the GOTv Cup in post-match penalties with a 4-2 win after a 1-1 draw in regular time at the then newly refurbished Kisumu’s Moi Stadium. The defeat would later haunt the green army followers for years.

The match kick-off time will be 3:00 pm and winner will play Mara Sugar who eliminated NYSA on Tuesday 1st June 2021.
