Gor Mahia will be facing Nzoia Sugar in a SportPesa Premier League game tommorow (Sunday) in Kisumu.
This will be the 16th league match for the defending champions and a second match in just under five days at the lake side city.
K’Ogalo are going into this fixture with heads high aiming to take their points tally to 40 and open a seven point gap at the top of the table over closest rivals Mathare United.
Ahead of the crunch tie, Gor is perched at the summit with 37 points after 15 games with a goal difference of +21 while our hosts, Nzoia Sugar FC, are eighth on the log with 27 points after 19 games with a goal difference of +3.
In the last three league encounters, Gor has gotten the better side of the Sugar millers winning all the three matches(1-0, 4-0, 1-0)
lt will not be a walk in the park for Dylan Kerr’s boys as they clash with a very unpredictable eighth placed Nzoia, who are boosted to have leading goal scorer Elvis Rupia (15) in their ranks.
However, Gor have a better history against the Bungoma-based side having emerged victors in all their last three meetings including first leg’s 1-0 win in Machakos.
From the style of play of the two teams, an exciting and entertaining duel is expected in Kisumu.
“The atmosphere has been excellent… players training very hard to be ready for a tough game tomorrow,” Kerr told the official Gor Mahia website.
Captain Haron Shakava is also aware of what’s in store and how they should approach the match.
“Tomorrow’s game will not be an easy one and we will handle it with the seriousness it deserves. We have done our preparation well and we are very much ready for the task,” said Shakava.
If selected, three Gor Mahia players ( Lawrence Juma, Boniface Omondi and Joachim Oluoch) will be facing their former team ( Nzoia Sugar).
The match will kick off tommorow at 3pm.
