Gor aims to overturn Alger’s home victory

Anxiety and excitement are taking over. The day is Sunday, 29th September 2019. Some k’Ogalo followers have no hope of Gor Mahia overturning the 4-1 1st leg loss to USM Algier.

Some followers are confident of a positive result going by the recent home form of Gor Mahia in CAF Club competition matches.

This will be the fourth meeting with USM Alger in CAF Club competitions. In the three meetings, Gor Mahia’s only positive result was a barren draw in a 2018 Caf Confederation Cup Group D match at Kasarani on May 16th, 2018, a game that many believe k’Ogalo should have won.

The return leg in Algeria on 26th August 2018 ended 2-1 in favor of the hosts. A result that eliminated Gor Mahia from the competition.

The lads are aware that the history of this match doesn’t favor them and they are psyched up to fight for the club, fight for the badge.

Kasarani Stadium is a good hunting ground for Mayienga. In all CAF matches played at Kasarani in recent times, Gor Mahia have only lost 2, one to Rwandan side Ryon Sports and Algerian sire RS Berkane. Casualties have been the giant Zamalek SC, Algerian side NA Hussein, Angolan Dey Petro de Luanda and our neighbors Young Africans from Tanzania.

Other teams that have lost to k’Ogalo at home are South African side SuperSport (Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Malawian side Nyasa Big Bullets and Nigerian side Lobi Stars.

The match kicks off at 4PM. Get your match tickets here:
