Newly acquired hit man from Young Africans Juma Balinya is set to make his debut for eighteen-time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) winners Gor Mahia whose title defense rumbles to Afraha stadium, Nakuru against Bandari.
Balinya was cleared to feature for K’Ogalo last Wednesday when his international transfer was sanctioned and certification issued.
His availability provides a welcome relief to Coach Steven Polack who was helpless as two forwards Francis Afriyie and Gislain Yikpe jumped ship in December 2020.
Balinya offers Gor Mahia extra options upfront where Nicholas Kipkirui has returned as a mainstay. The Ugandan wants to emulate his compatriots who shone at Gor Mahia in seasons past.
“I’m happy to be here and i want to do my best and help the team win every possible trophy on offer. I know the likes of Danny (Sserunkuma) grew into bigger players while at this club and i just want to work hard to emulate their achievements and even surpass,” he said
“I feel very welcome at this club, the players, officials and fans who attend training sessions have all welcomed me well and it is my duty to repay such hospitality by giving my all when i get to the pitch,” he added
Balinya is not the only playing due to make his debut for K’Ogalo. Youngsters Clinton Okoth and Nicholas Omondi have also recently joined the club and could be thrown into the deep end whenever the coach deems fit.
Also lined up to for a possible debut on Sunday is left back Michael Apudo who formerly featured for Posta Rangers.
Apudo has been training with rest of the squad and could fill up the left back position as the current mainstay Geoffrey Ochieng is suspended due to accumulation of five yellow cards.
